Doing the Chengdu base properly in one morning
A route that avoids the two worst bottlenecks, and why you should take the shuttle even though it feels lazy.

The base is spread over a hillside and the enclosures are further apart than the map suggests. Most visitors walk in from the main gate, reach the first crowd, and never get past the middle of the site before the pandas stop moving.
Ride to the far end first
Take the internal shuttle to the furthest stop and walk back toward the gate. You will meet the crowd coming the other way instead of standing in it, and you will reach the cub area while the animals are still awake.
Book before you fly
Entry is real-name and online, released fourteen days ahead, and the daily cap is enforced. There is no walk-up ticket on a busy day, and touts at the gate selling “fast entry” are selling nothing.
