The best time of day to see a panda, hour by hour
Pandas are awake for about four hours a day. Getting the timing right matters more than which base you choose.
Chengdu · Sichuan
The famous one, and still the easiest.
This is the base almost everyone pictures: wide bamboo-lined paths, cubs tumbling on wooden frames, and a queue at the gate before the sky is properly light. It is a research and breeding facility first, a visitor site second, which is why the animals look so well kept and why the crowds arrive so early.
The site is large enough that walking it twice in a morning is a mistake. Pick a route before you enter, ride the internal shuttle to the far end, and work back toward the gate as the pandas settle into their late-morning nap.

You will not hold a panda. You will break bamboo, wash shoots, and stand closer to a feeding animal than any ticket allows.
A route that avoids the two worst bottlenecks, and why you should take the shuttle even though it feels lazy.
